By Friday, we had figured out a few things and had begun to develop a few small routines for caring for Grady. The big exitement of the day was happening outside - Brett went for a run mid-day after it had been snowing for a few hours and remarked on how peaceful it already was - even before the roads were shut down for 24 hours! Brett and I both love snowstorms, and typically we would have spent the better part of the evening/night wandering around outside enjoying the beauty and peace, but as the wind picked up, we decided it probably wasn't ideal to do that with a less-than-week-old baby.
Thankfully my mom had gotten us some supplies earlier in the day and our friend Amanda had brought by breakfast food that morning to supply us for the long weekend indoors and meet Grady. Here they are together!
We avoided the blizzard had our own party inside on Friday night - comprised of Grady's first bath! Brett went to the bath class at the hospital so he was in charge and did quite well. Don't worry, the pot on the stove is empty and off! :)
All clean and cozy!
The next day, basically everything in town was closed after two feet of snow, including the T, so everyone was out wandering around and enjoying the snow. We had another food delivery from our friend Wen, and ended up getting calls from Grant and Ian & Anna, who were also out exploring and were able to stop by. We continually feel so blessed to live in such a walkable and friendly neighborhood and to have developed such a great community here over the past few years - now more than ever, I think! So, with the friends, we went downstairs for a quick photo op with Grady following his first blizzard. We're hoping this is a good sign for him and that he'll grow to love snow and winter just like his parents!
Thanks to the Egler Family for the cozy snowsuit!
