Infant seat
Trying to give Grady another option during his "play" time - so we've been using the infant seat a bit. Grady isn't that impressed - hopefully he learns to love it!

First T ride!
We went to church at Reunion today! Here's Grady's first T ride and him chilling listening to the music. Love his hand in his pocket. :)

Falling Asleep...
Grady makes some pretty cute faces and noises falling alseep. This video is probably a bit too long for anyone but the grandparents...but at least the first few seconds should make anyone smile!

Gentle but tough
So cuddly (thanks auntie Melissa for the outfit!) - but such a little butterball. He's gained about a pound and a half already - a lot for starting a 6.5 lbs! This kid loves his milk!!
First trip in the Ergo!
I got Grady bundled up and snuggled into the Ergo for a walk yesterday. Very successful, but may be more pleasant on a warmer, less windy day. I kept him cozy in the bear suit and then wrapped my coat around both of us! He loved it and fell asleep pretty quickly.

To swaddle or not?
Our doctor is super against swaddling after one week (early, right?) - but Grady still seems cool with it, usually. So we alternate, depending on how he's feeling. And for naps, sometimes we use no blanket at all when the Building's heat is really cranking. Whatever works, right? Either way, as long as he can kick his legs he's happy. May have gotten his dad's swimming genes!
"Helping" hold the bottle
I think we have a few more months before that really happens, but he tries to help out now and then.

Evening with friends
A few of my friends from work (this is Jenn and Anne) - came over on Friday with a hearty dinner and treats. They hung out With me and Grady while Brett went to a goodbye party for one of his friends/coworkers moving to Denver. Fun night for both of us!

Blizzard Nemo Comes to Brookline
We came home from the hospital on Tuesday - and everyone is right, those first few days are like nothing else. We'll maybe save that for another post. But suffice it to say we were overwhelmed - both the good and bad kind!
By Friday, we had figured out a few things and had begun to develop a few small routines for caring for Grady. The big exitement of the day was happening outside - Brett went for a run mid-day after it had been snowing for a few hours and remarked on how peaceful it already was - even before the roads were shut down for 24 hours! Brett and I both love snowstorms, and typically we would have spent the better part of the evening/night wandering around outside enjoying the beauty and peace, but as the wind picked up, we decided it probably wasn't ideal to do that with a less-than-week-old baby.
Thankfully my mom had gotten us some supplies earlier in the day and our friend Amanda had brought by breakfast food that morning to supply us for the long weekend indoors and meet Grady. Here they are together!
We avoided the blizzard had our own party inside on Friday night - comprised of Grady's first bath! Brett went to the bath class at the hospital so he was in charge and did quite well. Don't worry, the pot on the stove is empty and off! :)

All clean and cozy!
The next day, basically everything in town was closed after two feet of snow, including the T, so everyone was out wandering around and enjoying the snow. We had another food delivery from our friend Wen, and ended up getting calls from Grant and Ian & Anna, who were also out exploring and were able to stop by. We continually feel so blessed to live in such a walkable and friendly neighborhood and to have developed such a great community here over the past few years - now more than ever, I think! So, with the friends, we went downstairs for a quick photo op with Grady following his first blizzard. We're hoping this is a good sign for him and that he'll grow to love snow and winter just like his parents!
Thanks to the Egler Family for the cozy snowsuit!

Our little blessing has arrived!
Well things are a bit crazy in the Nichols' home these days, but we wanted to share a few pics with those that are interested... Hopefully this will hold ya'll over until we have time to be more diligent with updates. Grady was born 1:26 AM on February 3, 2013. He weighed 6lbs, 7oz, and was 19 inches long. I never know why that's super important - I guess it's just traditional information. Anyway, he's healthy, happy, and here!
Please excuse the balls... we thought the picture was well worth the inappropriateness :-).
Hospital visitors!
(Nate and Danielle - thanks for coming, sorry we didn't grab a picture with you guys!)
