Bye bye beanstalk
Guess he didn't love that bean plant after all. Or at least not as much as ripping it out by the roots.

Ice cream!
For the first sunny and warm day of the spring, we took the KUA Christian fellowship group to get ice cream. Poor grady's ice cream was the last to be delivered. But it was a great opportunity to practice patience!

Ella Gaves
If you talk to Grady for five seconds you hear about Ella, Jordyn and Maria, the other kids in his daycare class. On Valentine's Day the kids (read: their parents) gave each other little Valentine's. Ella's included little chocolate squares for everyone. We have managed to keep Grady from actual straight-up chocolate so far (two years, go us!) but this was his introduction.
Brett showed it to him and said "Ella gave you that." Grady ate it, laughed and enjoyed it a LOT, of course. As soon as it was gone, he turned to Brett and said "Want Ella gave you dat." It turns out (as we realized from many requests over the ensuing hours) that this was Grady's term for chocolate: "Ella gave you dat." Over time it has been shortened to "Ella gave." So if he sees one of us with chocolate it's "want dat Ella gave" or if he wants a reward for something, he walks to the cabinet, points and says "want Ella gave." Chocolate milk, however, is still "coc-olate MULK!"
We'll see if it sticks!

Cowboy, Cowboy, Lemon Drop
This afternoon I put Grady in the stroller and carried Pepper in the Moby and went for a walk - I think it was something like 35 so felt spring-like!
Grady and I were talking about our surroundings "who is that lady with the dog?" "where are the chickens and the pigs?" "daddy running at work?" (Brett was at track practice.) Anyway - about two minutes into the walk he asked about going home and I explained we'd just left and said "hold your horses, cowboy!" He then proceeded to sing "Cowboy, Cowboy, Lemon Drop" to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star - all the way through. I have ZERO idea where "lemon drop" came from.

Dr. Mike Mulligan
Today, Grady had an appt with his plastic surgeon - Dr. Mulliken. He combined his name with mike mulligan the steam shovel driver (http://www.amazon.com/Mike-Mulligan-His-Steam-Shovel/dp/0395169615) and was very excited all day to see "dr. mike mulligan."
This kid is hilarious
Today Grady called this kid in a book Uncle Marvin. Which is sweet but hilarious, given he looks nothing like uncle Marvin...
